Wow your next art director with a beautifully crafted digital portfolio that showcases the breadth and depth of your talent! This workshop will cover how to craft, edit, and organize your best work in a suitable online platform; creating a cohesive catalog of images that includes more than one style, plus personal and professional work; the dos and don’ts of portfolio basics; and what an art director looks for when viewing potential work.


MARIA T. MIDDLETON is the Art Director of Imprints at Candlewick Press and Walker Books US. After beginning her career at HarperCollins Children’s Books, Maria spent more than a decade designing award-winning books for Abrams Books and then for Random House Children’s Books. In her current role, Maria works across a variety of formats and genres including board books, picture books, middle-grade, young adult, graphic novels, and non-fiction. Most notable are Queen of the Sea by Dylan Myconis, Malamander by Thomas Taylor, illustrated by Tom Booth, and This  Boy by Lauren Myracle. Maria is drawn to out-of-the-box thinking, hand-lettered typography, and quirky but lovable characters.
